
Richard B. Russell State Park

This big park also offers some of the finest fishing and boating in the state. A nature trail follows the shoreline to one of the oldest steel pin bridges in the area and six gorgeous miles of wooded hiking and biking trails are also available. So camp and hike, picnic and fish, or sun and swim, there is so much to do in this great state park.

There are 6 great miles of hiking trails. Come hit the trail and explore this wonderful park!
Bicycles are allowed on the 6 miles of trails at the park. Kids bring your helmet and water bottle.
The lake is very popular with boaters and skiers. Canoes and pedal boats are available for rent.
Be sure to bring your tackle, because this is a fisherman's dream. The fish are always biting at Russell Lake.
The lakeside beach is a perfect place to swim and soak up the sun.
This unique course is situated on a peninsula within the state park and the water views are stunning, with 10 of the 18 holes skirting Lake Richard B. Russell. Golfers will find an 18-hole course at Arrowhead Pointe Golf Course.

Join the club and save on greens fees at the three north Georgia state park courses. Membership is just $69 and includes four 18-hole greens fees, a water bottle, pedometer, yardage book and health book. It's all part of the Department of Natural Resources' Get Outdoors Georgia campaign.

Programs at Richard B. Russell State Park

A new GO Georgia badge has been added to the successful Junior Ranger Program. Kids ages 7 - 14 choose from a list of activities to earn their Gopher badge. The younger ones, ages 7 - 10 must complete 5 activities while those in the older group, ages 11 - 14 must work toward completing 8 activities.

The Fishing Tackle Loaner Program (FTLP), developed by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Resources Division (WRD) and Georgia State Parks and Historic Sites is a program that provides a way for budding anglers to try fishing without having to purchase any equipment.
