Junior Ranger Gopher Badge
A new GO Georgia badge has been added to the successful Junior Ranger Program. Kids ages 7 - 14 choose from a list of activities to earn their Gopher badge. The younger ones, ages 7 - 10 must complete 5 activities while those in the older group, ages 11 - 14 must work toward completing 8 activities.

Georgia Veterans State Park
Come take a peek at the proud history of our heroes in a fun water sport and golf park. Established as a memorial to U.S. veterans, Georgia Veterans State Park features a cool museum with historic items from the Revolutionary War through the Gulf War. Bring the family and spend the day at the beach, or better yet, rent a boat and fish the day away. Weather your playing disc golf or teeing off at Memorial Golf Course, this park can't be beat!

LAKE SHORE TRAIL

The Lake Shore Trail is a leisurely half-mile hiking, biking nature trail winding along the shores of Lake Blackshear and Gum Creek.

Though not a hiking destination, Georgia Veterans does provide a couple of hiking and nature viewing trails.

Nature Viewing
This park is great for birders. Various species inhabit the shores of Lake Blackshear. Bring your binoculars!
Boating
Lake Blackshear is an excellant place to go boating, fishing or waterskiing. Private boats are permitted but you can also rent boats at the Marina at Lake Blackshear Resort.
Fishing
The typical warm water species like bass, crappie, catfish and bream are all found at Lake Blackshear. Boat rentals are available at the Marina at Lake Blackshear Resort.
Swimming
A beach is located at the park for swimmers and sunbathers.
Golfing
Golfers will love the Memorial Golf Course (18 holes) at The Lake Blachshear Resort and Golf Club
